Crate, Kennel & House - what does my puppy need?
If you are a new puppy owner, you may be wondering if you need a crate, kennel or house for your pup. There are pros and cons to all options. In our overview we included the types, costs and aspects to consider when buying one or the other.
First and foremost: Dogs are social animals and neither like to be separated nor left alone, especially puppies. In an ideal setting you should spend as much time with your pup as possible as they need company and attention. Puppies should only be separated, for instance by putting them in a crate of kennel, when necessary and for short periods of time. If done otherwise you´re puppy might experience anxiety and develop behavioral issues. For more information on this, visit the understanding your puppy section.
A crate can help keep your pup out of trouble while unsupervised or when you receive guests. It should only be used when necessary. A good way of getting your puppy used to it, is to put a comfortable blanket and toys in it. If your puppy appears hesitant to enter a crate, you can use treats to lure it in.
